2022 Annual Test Rugby Lunch Review

The 2022 Annual Test Rugby Lunch, presented by long-term sponsors Flight Centre, was a massive success for the Club in so many ways.

The lunch brought together around 650 supporters of the Red Heavies – the biggest lunch since 2019.

Led from the front by former Wallabies Captain, Tim Horan as MC, our guest speakers were sensational, with the openness of England Coach, Eddie Jones, stealing the show. We sincerely thank Eddie for the giving of his time on the eve of the Wallabies v England clash at Suncorp Stadium. He gives much of his time to worthy causes, and for that we thank him dearly.

Another highlight of the event was the awarding of the 15th Life Membership of the Club to long-time player, coach, committee member and supporter Todd Clements. Todd epitomises the Red Heavies spirit with his undeniable support of all things UQ Rugby. Anyone who knows Todd would agree that no-one is more deserving of such an award, which came as a total surprise to him on the day.

One of the other objectives of the lunch is to raise much-needed funds for the Club. This was done through the incredible generosity of our corporate sponsors and supporters and their donations of auction and raffle items. Through the hands of celebrity auctioneer Haesley Cush, we were able to raise a generous amount of funds which all contributes to the operations of the Club.

Once again, thank you to Flight Centre and all of our corporate sponsors for their support of the day.

Thanks also to everyone who attended the event – we couldn’t have achieved these results without your support.

We look forward to making 2023 even bigger and better.
